COCO KLEIN (he/they/she) is a Canadian born, internationally acclaimed, multidisciplinary artist, performer, and creative director working primarily between the entertainment, fashion & film industries. Their practice centers on transformation, embodied storytelling, and radical self-expression, using the body as a blank canvas for experimentation, disruption, and collective imagination.
Coco’s work has been recognized across both institutional and commercial platforms. Most recently, an original costume designed by Coco Klein was exhibited at the Museum für Gestaltung in Zurich, Switzerland as part of TRANSFORMATION, alongside artists and designers connected to Susanne Bartsch’s legendary legacy, including Chappell Roan, Christian Louboutin, Matieres Fecales, & Hungry. In September, Coco was invited to curate & creative direct a crew of world-class circus performers for a New York Fashion Week activation in collaboration with Adidas. Including styling, performing, and MC-ing the event; dubbed "The best NYFW activation of 2025" by Complex Magazine.
Internationally, Coco has presented work across major festivals, nightlife institutions, and cultural spaces throughout Europe and North America, including France, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Currently based in Berlin, they are a prominent host and performer within the city’s underground and experimental performance landscape, known for creating immersive, participatory formats that invite audiences into states of play, transformation, and collective authorship.
Since relocating, Coco has made a lasting impression on the queer performance art scene for their unique fusion of drag, circus, cabaret, and immersive theatre. They were nominated for three late night culture awards and won two including "Best Looks of the Year" and "Best Party of the Year" with the collective Lunchbox Candy.
While often associated with drag, Coco resists fixed archetypes and traditional performance hierarchies, treating drag not as a category but as a methodology. Their work moves fluidly between character, abstraction, and ritual, blending movement, costume, sound, and scenography to construct immersive worlds that exist beyond the stage.
Beyond performance, Coco’s practice also extends across film, tv and music video productions through costume design, styling & creative direction. They are currently expanding their work into writing, directing, and producing, developing socially engaged projects rooted in queer liberation, cultural resistance, and future-facing narratives.
Coco's creative goals are limitless and although they have been an industry professional for the last 20 years of their life, they are just getting started.
